Yes sir.. if you are good at mechanical component design i Can say you you can design boat enginee.. but i will tell you something.. designing an aeroplane enginee basically mechanical engineers job but.. it is not smething to do that you can do alone.. it is a teamwork..and you need to know the principles of fluid dynamics, compressible flow and advanced thermodynamics, etc. compressor theory, i mean a jet enginee has a lot of work to do.. but yes basically you can be a part of the design team.... mechanical engineering is a field that you can alwyas but always find a job...
