Can someone explain how a tapered shaft and hub provides adequate mechanical advantage when used in a marine propeller and shaft setup. ie: the shaft and hub of the propellor are tapered and forced together with a nut which forces the prop hub onto the shaft. What will provide the most holding power, the key in the shaft or the friction between hub and shaft?
