I have two problems Please show me a solution way.

i)in a lathe: the work piece has an initial diameter of 155 mm. and a final diameter 140 mm. the axial length of the cut is 75 mm. the spindle rotates at 1500 rpm. the available power at the spindle is 35 kw. the suggested feed rate is 0,25mm./rev. th work piece material is steel with a hardness of 52 HRC. Calculate the total cutting time for this operatıon.

ii) A 200 mm long 75 mm diameter bar (200HB) is going to be rough cıt on a lathe with a HSS tool (a) ıf the cut will be made in two passes, what will the cost of the operation be( 5 minutes = 10 Dollar) (b) estimate the power requirement for a single pass.

Example:
you have a depth of removal of 15mm diameter.

@ .25mm a rev. @ 1500 RPM = 375mm per minute .... for 75mm you have .2 minutes per pass.

You need to take ABOUT 3 passes at a depth of 2.5mm (5mm diameter).

3 x .2 = .6 minutes for cut time + .2 minutes for tool change, rapid transverse and lockdowns (now calculate in tool edge replacement based on the number of parts to make vrs tool edge lifetime).

You should be able to work it out after studying this..
