we have a flowserve 4x12 wxh-10 bfp that is going thru bearing at an alarming rate. alignment is good hot/cold, we have narrowed it down to pipe stress, which is a known fact. what i'm tasked to do is solve the piping problem. for a temp fix i intend to modify the spool pieces to fit the stress until we can come down for an extended period of time and redo the whole piping system. i was looking for some info on battering pipe, or diamond heating the pipe, to move it to where it will take the stress off the pump
any ideas

Just for clarity BFP stands for "Backflow Prevention"?

1. Can you attached a general configuration drawing to this forum thread for everybody to see?
2. You said the alignment was good hot/cold, how good (nothing is perfect)? What is the runout(s)?
3. How hot and cold is the bearings getting?
4. What kind of bearings? How are they lubricated? How are they cooled? What ar the operating conditions? What are the bearings rated at?
5. Where is the pipe stress coming from? Pressure?

thanks for the reply, but bfp stands for boiler feed pump. the alignment is within .002 with thermal growth added as per factory specs. the pressure is too high for bellows, i was just trying to get some tips about moving piping and the assocated hangers
thanks
