I have seen references to tolerance for thread fits/class, machine screw head diameter, height of the head and such....

Are there standards for the LENGTH tolerance?

Say, for a #6-32 X 7/8 Phillips pan head. How good is the 7/8 number??!!

Didn't find anything on the first two passes through Machinery Handbook, but Metric Series had guidelines...

Thanks for any advice or reference leads.
