Need allowable shear stress for 225mm cylindrical steel shaft for my calculations.Material: steel Rm:776 N/mm2

you should at first specify your factor of safety you will use and that factor depends on the application you have ( static load or dynamic load ) , then you shoud specify the amount of force applied to the shaft,then you can calculate the allowable shear stress as:
shear stress=f/a
where f: force
a:area
