anyone use silicone as a threadsealer?
I have a application where Alum pipe threads (fine pitch) must pass after temp/cycling & a gross leak water immersion test. Other issue is porosity. I have tried various loctite products with moderate success. (just about all there products for Alum needs a activator uggggg, the fumes, & or it is $$$$ for high volume). someone reccomended a RTV but I have never heard of it used as a thread sealer. It must also survive various enviromental testing as well. will a RTV something like Dow corning 832 work for me? appreaciate any replies. Gb |

What about a pipe sealant such as teflon tape etc. I've only used RTV with teflon tape just as an insurance in problematic leaks. I wouldn't recommend using it as the main sealant specially going thru temp cycling. |
