Volumetric flow rate One US Gallon = 231 cubic inches volume of water going in an hour = area*velocity cross section area of hose = pi/4*(D^2 - d^2) where D = outside diam which I assume must be = 5/8 inches d = wall tube thickness = ?? velocity = L/T = Hw much feet/ inches garden hose is T = 3600 sec key - one way to get thickness of pipe id t = Pressure * diameter https://www.lmnoeng.com/flowrate.htm - tosave calc time manually Hope it helps wut u r looking for

It sounds like you need to get a garden hose, bucket and a watch.

Depends on inlet pressure, length and resistance to flow characteristics of the hose. "garden hose, bucket and a watch" I agree...

I thought about that. My problem is I own a house that my nephew lives in. The water bill is normally about $14.00. This month it is $2000.00. The meter reader says he found the garden hose running and that is how so much water was used. I'm trying to figure out if this is possible. Being the land owner I will get stuck with the bill.

Doing a quick search...some sites say that it could be approx..600 gallons an hour. I own a swimming pool..that seems about right. Do you get your water bill monthly or quarterly?

I get my bill monthly. So at 600 gallons an hour it would take approx. 8 days solid running to use that much. Thanks alot for all of your help. Now how do you get $2000.00 out of your nephew without getting into trouble?

How does your nephew spend $2000 on water and NOT get in trouble? I think your nephew needs to get his own account with the water company as well...

Well, go watch the meter and get somebody to turn on the garden hose and watch the water meter for about a minute. Record the start and stop readings. Make sure everything else (water) is off. You should be able to estimate how long the water was running and see if it is possible to use $2000 worth. You might consider buying one of those water timers that screw in between the facet and garden hose. I use one for watering the garden so the water onlt runs a known time.

Here is another way. Hold the nozzle vertically upwards and estimate the maximum height the water trajectory. Then the velocity out of the nozzle is V=square root of 2*32* height in feet V is velocity in ft/second You can do the math to get gallons per hour, etc.
