Hi All,
We are just starting to use a 3D software package for our engineering. We build hydraulic power units and systems. I was wondering if anybody in the engineering world know where we might find 3D files on hydraulic pumps and also hydraulic motors (Rotary Actuators)? .step .iges are several of the numerous files we can read. Thanks in Advance,

I have found that many OEM companies provide SolidWorks or AutoDesk files on their web pages. Sometimes you may have to look around for them, but they are usually there. Don't expect any dimensional data other than that required to mate hole patterns to frames and couplers, overall size, etc., usually they are the outside form with no guts, which is fine for form/fit/function. ... I find that the files usually plug into assemblies with few adjustments. It just makes good business sense to provide a model file so prospective customers or design engineers can plug your product into their assemblies... that is about as close to locking your product into a project design as you are going to get at that stage for simply supplying a handy model file for the project engineer to grab. If you want to drop me an e-mail using the -"eMail author"- text to the right, I will send you a URL to a free site which provides a link list of vendors with 3d provisions. This would at the least be a good start, and may even have what you are seeking.
