I am working in a Oil marketing company and they have PD pumps here pumping furnace oil from a location to a filling point 2.8 km away, due to lack of coordination they have major leaks occuring due to the excessive pressure developing.
They were suggesting to shift the P.D pumps nearer to the filling station but then for some of the P.D pumps the NPSHA becomes less than the NPSHR.So now they might be shifting the tanks in itself. My question is,How can we insure safety with the P.D pumps?because they plan to operate 4 to 5 at a time to achieve a flowrate of 65.1 litres/sec for filling. Can we use centrifugal pumps for furnace oil?i know centrifugals do not work well with viscous fluids. but are they centrifugal pumps that do work?because the risk factor would get reduced if we use centrifugal. |
