Question Question on how to confirm a shape to a CAD drawing

    Hello,

I work for a Cut and Sew factory in the automotive field. Our department has been tasked with developing a system to where we can take a cut piece of fabric (Imagine any shape that you want to), place it on a flat screen television or computer monitor and then verify if it is within cut tolerances.

These tolerances are less than 1 mm on average so it has to be pretty close.

I've been looking online for information about this but haven't gotten anywhere. Can anyone please help me with this? Is it as simple as putting the CAD drawing on the screen and checking the size. I'm afraid that monitor resolution and size of the display will cause big problems in getting this right.

    Thanks,

BTW: I know that this is possible as our competitor is doing it....of course we can't see or ask him how he did it.

The sizes would range from 1 square inch to 4 square feet. All pieces would have a different shape and cut pattern. Curves, angles, any shape you may think of.

    Thanks.
