I've got an application where my customer will be installing horizontal 3/8" wire rope inside an existing building and is required to pre-tension the rope to 600lbs. As with most construction designs, there is a spec for what the end result is to be but the means and methods are often left to the contractor. While not officially my responsibility, my customer is asking for suggestions.

That being said, I have in mind some sort of come-along with a limiter on it that would prevent over tightening of the cables (kind of like a break-over point on a torque wrench). Once the tension was achieved, wire claps could be installed and the mystery tool moved to the next location.

Mostly just looking for ideas that are portable, fairly cheap and simple to use.

Any ideas?

Here is a tool used to apply tension loading in cables used in pre-stressed concrete slabs.

Could you get away with a simple turn buckle to load it?
