Hi all,
I was having a look at the Key World Energy Statistics (2015) of the International Energy Agency, and there is an inconsistency that I can't explain: the World Electricity Generation is approximated to be 23'322 TWh, while the World Electricity Consumption is approximated as 1'069 Mtoe which corresponds to approx. 12'432 TWh (Please refer to attached figures). How is it possible that consumption is so much lower than electricity generation? Losses in transmission and distribution range between 5-10%, so this can't be it.
Thanks for any ideas!
a) Consumption by sector
b) generation by region
