    Symmetry lines / Center lines

We all use symmetry lines or center lines in our mechanical drawings.
But what standard (ISO) state that it is a requirement?

Center lines for both ISO and ASME (ANSI) engineering drawings are used to indicate that the associated feature is oriented perpendicular to the given engineering drawing view.

    It is a drafting practice, see ISO 128 -30, 40 and 50.
