Half way through the length of the thread on a 1.813" 10 Stub Acme Pin, a 3/4" length piece of thread broke off of our tool. The material used for this item was 4140/42. We recommend 50lbs/ft torque to make up this part with its mating part. What could cause this piece of thread to break off?
During manufacturing or installation into the mating part ?
