Thermal sprayed coatings have a wide range of industrial
coating applications. This technique of applying a coating involves the
spraying of molten powder or wire feedstock by use of a combustion or electric
arc method onto the base material. Typical materials which are sprayed
include most metal alloys and ceramics. Although any material can be thermal
sprayed, the sprayed material may require careful temperature, pressure and
application controls and equipment.
Thermal spray coating may be applied very thin up to thicknesses
greater than 45 micro inches or more. Typical industries which apply
thermal sprayed coating are aerospace, space and similar very high technology
industries, commercial industries are applying thermal spray coatings as well.
