The most common types of sawing and cutoff machines used within industry are: abrasive cut-off wheel, band saw, shearing, lathe, EDM wire, etc. . Other cutoff types machines and processes include: diamond tipped discs or blades or diamond coated wire. The cutoff process may be accelerated by using a stock-feed mechanism, such as, a hopper, conveyor, or other controlled feed mechanism or manually feed uncut stock into the cutoff machine.
Automatic cutoff machines normally require little setup time or costs. Large and medium sized lots will offer the greatest cost benefits. Manual cutoff operations tend to more practical than automated machinery to cutoff low quantities of stock.
